The main thing that impressed us, was they way they had used the space that was between the older buildings - it had been covered in and was now an extra indoor working space. The other feature was that there was lots of plyboard being used about the place, and very simply yet effectively. They seemed to be using every bit of space, and there was certainly a nice vibe as we walked around. Lots of busy people.

When you first arrive at the TU Library it looks interesting, and a little strange - as it is a grassy hill with a big upside done cone sticking out of it. But as you enter you see how beautiful and what a wonderful space it is to work in.
The books which are hardly used, have been placed up "against" a wall so they look like a large tapestry - an artwork. The cone is a layered study center with large tables and work desks for students to work on collaborative groups. On another wall are break out spaces / meeting rooms - that have themes - we found the Aussie one! :-) There was also a small "tinker space" and there is a silent study area with some computers set up and areas for you to plug in your own computer. It is very impressive. And as you would expect with The Netherlands.. plenty of Bikes about... This was another well designed /repurposed space, originally two buildings - now joined by a fabulous airy open space.
The childrens area area was very cool, too many kids playing in their to take photos. There was also a "red room" that housed all the romance novels. Plus lots of little chairs about within the books areas for people to find a quiet spot and read. But we all loved to open space in the middle. TU Delft Library - Delft. Delft is about 2hours South of Amsterdam and is the Technology University's Library. The TU Delft Library is the largest technical scientific library of The Netherlands. However, the Library is more than just a library. In 2008 it started converting its traditional library into a Learning Centre - completed in 2010. It has more open areas, and flexible spaces, form quiet individual study places to areas that encourage group work, discussions, a tinkering area, plus areas to just relax and enjoy the space, including a Coffee Corner, and massage chairs.
